Effects are greyed out indicate that given effect can be applied in current effects configuration (other effects exclude) or its minimum requirements aren't met. To check if its cross-effect compatibility exclusion, in settings:
Effects section are greyed out when one or more of methods required by effects in it is not available.

To forcibly enable passive event detection add this line (without brackets) "fem|true" to Nimi Visuals settings file (nv.dat).
